Frankenturret-nachbau aus Portal 2 (fertig!!!)
Autor: Corroder
because of the great unexpected international response I translated this in in english. I hope my english is good enough to understand
I recently bought Portal 2 and was so thrilled how cute and evil (and simply awesome) everything is that I decited to build something from that game.
das Frankenturret
my favorite thing in the game
The Frankenturret
it´s a mix of a cube and two sentry turret
that thing will measure about 25x23x16 cm
maybe it will be able to walk. I´m not sure if I´ll can do that but I´ll try. (sadly I wasn´t able to do that)
explanation why: 1st problem. my servos arn´t that strong to make multiple pushes one after another
2nd the servos are pretty much in the middle of the cube. the angle is the problem. a push from the servos would push the turret not forward/ahead but upwards and than it falls backwards.
to make it really walk the servos have to be in the turrets heads but ther is no space for them
till now I only did a sketch ( you can evaluate rhe size with that coin)
the maincube is made from cut out PVC boards that I glued with hotglue
hier ist die modellation des geschützturmkopfes
I modeled the turret heads with wax
I made a mold from silicon and casted the heads with smooth cast 65D.
than I printed out the eyes on printable plastic sheet I made with Photoshop.
a simple LED circuit lights them up
next I modeled the corners/edges(what´s the english word for that?) with wax...
...und mit silikon doubliert...
...made a mold from silicon...
...ausgegossen und an das cube-gestell angepasst
...cast , adapt and glue them with hot glue to the maincube
das Cube-gestell is nu fertig
the cube is finished now
I copied the textures of the Frankenturret from the Portal model viewer printed them and glued them on
die köpfe sind jetzt fertig und angebracht
the heads are now finished and attached
the legs move with an Arduino and 2 servos
here is a video that shows the moving servos without the frankenturret around it^^

i have to thank "Paripah" Mike S. sooooo much for helping my this the Arduino. He soldered some a shield to the arduino and wrote the code. without him I could´n make the legs move
uuuuuund FERTIG!!!
aaaaaand FINISHED!!!

All my Jelly!
Richtig klasse. *3*
Sieht echt klasse aus! <3

Handwerklich is es dir sehr gut gelungen.
